My students need updated therapy materials, feel and find sensory tubs, a magnetic sight-word sensory board, and a storyteller writing box, to assist in remediating their communication needs.
Our student body at my elementary school consists of 750 students, 3/4 of which are on free and reduced lunch. We serve approximately 100 communication impaired students. We treat students with articulation, language, voice, and fluency disorders. We services students with a range of disabilities from mild sound errors to severe autism. Due to federal and local budget cuts, we are not allowed to purchase materials for therapy purposes with school funds. Our therapy resources are limited. My students would benefit from updated therapy resources to enhance their communication skills in order to improve their education progress.
My Project
My students are in need of updated speech and language materials and resources to assist in their therapy sessions. As times and curriculum are changing, so needs to be my therapy materials. I have been in the school system for 20 years with little monetary resources to update my supplies. I have utilized teacher made resources from teachers pay teachers, but that doesn't always meet the needs of my students.
With the common core in full force, I am looking for language resources to assist in my therapy sessions.
These resources can help to enhance what is being taught in the classroom setting while enhancing their developmental language skills.
I also have a large number of students with a diagnosis of Autism on my caseload. I would like to purchase manipulative to utilized in my therapy sessions as a reward for doing work and as a sensory stimulation activity.
Any or all of these resources would be greatly appreciated and widely used in therapy to help with my continued determination to help my students succeed in school!
