Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I work with preschool students to help them learn to communicate, build language, and be understood in the classroom. Learning through play is very important in preschool and students learn best when provided with many hands-on play activities.

The items in this project will provide my students with new play materials for learning about family living, building, shopping/food, and talking about different actions.

The dollhouse furniture and people will provide play through familiar items found in the home and can be used to target functions of items, talking about actions, playing with friends, and using social language in play. The shopping game and monster broccoli book will provide students with play and reading to learn about different foods and language needed when shopping for groceries. The magna tiles will allow students to build and talk about what they are building in the classroom. These allow student to use their imagination and be creative while building language skills. The zoo animal toy will be great for playing a game to describe what animal is hiding and having friends guess the animals as well as matching numbers. Each of these toys was selected with individual student goals in mind to help support learning and language in the classroom.
