The challenge facing my students is lack of motivation. My students need new materials, such as these puzzles, to engage them in learning.
My 31 inner city first graders are from a very poor area.
Most of my first graders qualify for free or reduced lunch and breakfast at school. These students are hard workers and try to be successful. However, it is very difficult for them to succeed because I don't have the fun materials in class that they need.
The puzzles I am requesting will help motivate students to learn in a fun way. Students will get to explore the English language through use of manipulatives. The puzzles will teach children about various parts of the language. While students are working on these puzzles, they will be learning about rhyming words, compound words, irregular plurals, homonyms, synonyms and other language related materials.
The project materials are very critical to the success of my first graders.
These puzzles will offer my students a chance to succeed at something. The impact on my students will be evident in their willingness to learn and engage in language arts lessons. My students will use these materials in a proper manner to enhance the lessons taught in reading and writing lessons.
