I am a reading teacher in a low income school district. I work with a variety of students in reading interventions. These students range from remedial to enrichment. These games and manipulatives can benefit all students and lead to more active involvement in their reading and comprehension.
My students deserve a chance to be active learners.
Middle school is a challenging age group, and they need to be exposed to materials that will interest them but also help them gain the necessary confidence on a daily basis. The technology will allow for additional opportunities for them to delve into literature but also engage them and make connections with their own lives.
My Project
The addition of manipulatives, such as the Thumball and the Reading Comprehension Cubes, will help bring reading concepts alive for my students. I am a reading teacher who works with middle school students who struggle with basic concepts in Language Arts and need supplemental tools to help them connect to literary elements and vocabulary.
These hands on activities and supplies will help them make connections beyond the textbook and allow the opportunity to bridge their skill gaps.
The addition of games, such as Heads Up, will help them to stay engaged while they are gaining confidence in areas of struggle.
