My students need the expertise of a future landscape designer! We would like to bring in Michael Marcheschi to help us design and install an outdoor classroom.
I teach 9th to 12th graders in an urban community with about a 62% low income rate.
My students are AMAZING!
They come from diverse backgrounds. This diversity is one of the things I love about our high school. We pride ourselves in being accepting of all abilities, ethnicities, orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Each student brings different ideas and approaches to every project. Students learn so much from each other in our art classes because of their diversity of experiences.
My Project
This visitor has experience in landscape design and is currently taking graduate level classes in this area. Michael has a passion for this area and for education. He is excited to introduce our art students to this career and to help them create a functioning outdoor classroom.
Our landscape designer in residence will guide students through the fundamentals of landscape design from concept to installation!
Students will learn how to integrate their ideas for an outdoor classroom into an already existing space. Michael will teach them how to plan and sketch their ideas using principles of design. In addition to the artistic aspects of landscape design, students will learn about various plants and how they can thrive in the environment. All of this will culminate in a hands on experience of planting plants and installing a patio. This outdoor classroom will last for years to come and will be utilized for future art courses.
