Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When you step foot into our classroom, the diversity of the community is reflected in the make-up of our students. Our school is truly a melting pot that provides a safe space for children of all cultures to come together and learn. Our programs aim at providing services for all students and provide the proper scaffolds that will help each individual student reach his potential.
Our dual language classroom adds an extra challenge for our kids: learning a second language.
Through an enriching Spanish program that weaves throughout Kindergarten to 5th grade, we seek to prepare our Bilingual students to tackle the ever-changing world that demands a multitude of languages.
My Project
The supplies I'm requesting for my students are in part due to the shift into the new Next Generation Science Standards and our 2nd-grade SCIENCE UNITS throughout the year changed.
This being our first year, I am becoming aware of the resources we need to push knowledge and expose the children to the new content.
The biggest change is this unit on LANDFORMS, where our class has ZERO books. The students are studying landforms and how they are affected by weathering, erosion and plate tectonics. I'm hoping I can get these resources into the hands of my students soon since we still have about 2 months before this unit finishes.
