This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our class is a community. We have leaders, caretakers, coaches, friends, learners, etc. We do not have desks in our classroom. We sit, lay or stand wherever learning is best for us. We do not do "normal learning" by society's standards. We have FUN through learning! We are always engaged in a great activity that has to do with the lesson being presented. Learning through play and exciting activities throughout the day is our main goal.
Our class is a safe and happy place.
We learn through play and exciting activities in our lessons. We take time to listen and share our thoughts and knowledge among each other. The students at my school care about their education and are eager to learn. About 90% of the students are at or below the poverty line. But you wouldn't even know it when they walk into the classroom. These young minds come in ready for the day and always say, "I am ready to become smarter than my mom, dad, sister, and brother!"
My kids are a silly bunch with bright personalities and are always ready for any challenges that are presented to them throughout the day.
My Project
The laminator and laminating pouches are going to be used when my students are done writing and illustrating their books. By having their books laminated, they are all more likely to do their best and also keep them. The books are also great keepsakes for their parents. My class will also be laminating some of their favorite projects that we are going to be doing.
This project is going to allow my students to laminate their own work, both books and projects.
I want to ignite a love within my students for writing and illustrating at an early age. I want them to be proud of the writing that they do. Having things laminated makes my students treasure them more than they would if they weren't laminated.
