This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students in our program are those identified as being at or below the poverty line. In addition, these students are considered to have many factors which may impact their future success such as low parental education level.
Our classroom consists of at-risk and special needs four-year-old students, many of whom are living in single parent households.
The school is located in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood.
My Project
Our students will be starting their Pre-K experience through Virtual Learning but that does not mean that it should not be engaging. While the time spent on viewing online teaching will be short, I want it to be meaningful and include various materials to stimulate student interest.
The magnetic, dry erase board with felt board will be used daily to integrate all aspects of learning for our students.
From storytelling with visuals to discussing and recording their thoughts ranging from curriculum questions to how they are feeling; this easel will be utilized each day. Having the bins at the bottom will allow me to organize materials to prepare for each day. The laminator will allow me to make and use materials repeatedly.
