This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My day consists of assisting 60 students in small groups who struggle with basic math and reading foundations. My hope for my students is that they will acquire a profound love of mathematics and reading! The goal is that each of my students perform at or above grade level in math and reading by the end of the school year.
Many students come from poverty stricken homes.
They have limited access to technology as well. Our school lacks in the area of technology but with your assistance, these students can experience things outside of their own community! They are at a great disadvantage due to circumstances out of their control. My students love incorporating games into our daily activities and interventions. Receiving this great piece of technology would allow us to access games, stories, resources and manipulatives as a whole group!
My Project
Currently our school does not have a laminator and we are in need of preserving materials. A new laminator would benefit students in several ways. They would be able to reuse materials and I would be able to reuse them from group to group. Laminating our manipulatives will help students to become more engaged in the activity at hand and will give them more practice. Also it will help boost morale of the students by allowing us to laminate their work and show it off in the hallways. A new laminator would help save on the cost of having to resupply materials too.
