Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every year it is so wonderful to meet our new, bright-eyed, inquisitive, students. Even though this year we have not met some of our students in person, only online, it has been a strange, but super fun, learning experience. For many, our kindergarten class is the first experience with school they have. On the first day we talk about how much they are going to learn: reading, writing, math, and countless other things. Although all those are very important, we tell them that the most important thing we want them to learn in our class is kindness. We want them to let their little lights shine by treating others with care and respect, being helpful, by always being aware and mindful of others' feelings. Due to the low socio-economic backgrounds of most of our students, 100% of our students receive free lunch.
My Project
There are countless, wonderful, teacher created activities on Teachers Pay Teachers that we have been using to send activities home for the students learning from home and for the students who are learning in the classroom. This is done on a weekly basis. Being able to purchase more activities from Teachers Pay Teachers, print them in color(using a new printer gifted from a fellow teacher) and laminate them will benefit all of our students, because the learning activities and games will be sturdier and last much longer.
