Our school is a PreK-5th grade school with over 700 students, including a large population of ELL students. Our students come from all different religious, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Some of our students come from homes that speak one of nine different languages! We are also privileged to serve military families and children of Barksdale Air Force Military Base.
My class is an Early Childhood Special Education class with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments from ages 3-5 years old.
In our school, there is a large special needs population with a heavy emphasis on Autism. The students in my class see the world through a different pair of glasses. My students are developmentally delayed in many areas. In addition to implementing the Pre-K guidelines, we also work on self-help skills, developmental milestones and build language and social skills. This can look different for every student, but they all have the capabilities to learn and be successful regardless of their disability or behavior. Our students help us to see the world through their eyes.
My Project
My students are special needs Pre-K and Kindergarten and they LOVE sensory bins and fine motor activities. We change out these activities as often as we can with the seasons and themes.
These materials will give us the capability to create and protect colorful, fun, and engaging activities for our rotating sensory bins and fine motor activities.
Purchasing fine motor and sensory bin activities from Teachers Pay Teachers gives us amazing activities and saves a ton of time! Laminating our activities will give us the capability to reuse them throughout the year and for years to come.
