I teach in a school that has students who live in suburban neighborhoods and others who live on farms. They come from a variety of walks of life with different experiences. I have students who have many different interest. There are those who are very much into creating YouTube videos and gaming. Others play football, basketball, soccer, and run. Some are involved in Future Farmers of America and are involved in the competitions that comes with this.
My students are bright, lively and want to learn.
My goal is to be a facilitator in their learning. I believe that students need to have the ability to work together learning to cooperate, communicate, and create. There are many benefits to learning in this style. Students are more motivated to participate and succeed. They enjoy the chance to work with their peers and there is more satisfaction in finding the answer than being told the answer.
My Project
Students sit in desks all day long. Comfortable seating, bean bags, camp chairs, stools, and stability balls will provide students with a chance of getting away from the norm and relaxing while they learn. It is hard for students of any age to sit still in class after class for hours at a time. This is a way of getting away from the traditional rows of desk and providing an environment that is more student oriented.
Happier students - better engagement - better results!
I believe this style of classroom can improve the academic performance of my students! This type of classrooms provides students with some choices that can give them more comfort in the classroom. It creates a better sense of community and collaboration among classmates!
