Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My studious 3rd-grade scholars are currently attending school full-time after 2nd grade in a hybrid model. My students are both English language learners and students whose first language is English. They all show up eager to learn each day. They enjoy reading diverse books, and they have a large enough collection to choose which books they'd like to read each day. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. My students are two separate groups that each learn with me for half a day. I have a large ENL population and they are eager to learn and enjoy every minute of it. My students are general and special education students. They are all amazing kids!
Please help me provide my scholars with 2 monthly magazine subscriptions that will allow them the opportunity to build their confidence, creativity, and curiosity through reading and writing!
Students will receive their own copy of Spider magazine as well as Ladybug Magazine from Cricket Media.
Many of my ELL students do not have reading material at home and this magazine subscription will give them access to a paper magazine as well as an online resource to practice their fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Scholars will be able to read up to thirteen articles/stories each month in class with their monthly subscriptions and they will also be able to bring their magazines home each night to encourage literacy in their homes as well! This will help greatly with the home-school connection.
