Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into the classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. I want them to be successful in school and in everyday life.

I teach at a Title I school in Kentucky where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

70% of my class are English language learners who love to come to school. Many of my students receive backpacks of food on the weekend and come from a very low socioeconomic homes. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they will be successful one day.

My Project

My students need a place to store their books, supplies, and folders that they can easily access. They are currently using desk that are falling apart. If they store too many things the screws will not hold up. In addition they are crooked and all different sizes.

Students need to know they have a place to sit and store their items safely.

The desks would help them feel more positive about the classroom because they would not be complaining everyday the current desk. This would increase instructional time. Last, some of my students do not have a place to sit when they go home. It would be nice to give them a desk that is clean, safe, and conducive to learning.
