My students need a variety of arts & crafts materials so that we may incorporate our own art content because we do NOT have an art program at our VERY low income school.

My Students

Do you remember making priceless ornaments for your parents as gifts? What about Valentines day mailboxes? Or how about painting your first self portrait? Unfortunately our poverty stricken school has no funding for art so these keepsakes are extremely minimal if not non existent.

My students are the sweetest and simplest kids you'll come across.

They are attending a school in a very poor area and little things mean more than you would ever think. Getting to use a pencil with an eraser is a big deal and brings a smile to their faces. These students depend mostly on the school for hot meals. Being able to make something, take it home and share it their families would mean the world to them.

My Project

Crayons, Construction Paper, Pipe Cleaners, Paint, Markers, Paintbrushes, tissue paper, clay, Puppets for dramatic play, etc. I am hoping for each student to be able to make some sort of collage that is inspired by their personality that reflects upon their first year of school.

The majority of the students have an unstable home life and often don't know when they are going to eat their next meal.

Through the introduction of a variety of arts I hope to capture the students attention and inspire them to continue on with experimenting different mediums. This could be the only chance these students have to experience the many different aspects of art.
