Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

If you walked in my class on any given day, you would observe my students exploring and teaching each other. In my experience, students learn the best when they are able to create and experience. Science isn’t about memorization, it’s about the experience.

My school serves students that are committed to an education that allows them to go to and through college.

With this commitment, we have very high expectations where students joyously struggle to push themselves to a higher standard. My students are motivated to be the best versions of them because teachers allow them to be.

My Project

As stated previously, my students learn best through exploration. With the simple machines kit, they would be able to experience each type of simple machine and not just read or write about it. This provides a necessary element that locks in the important information. With the botany dissections kits, my students would be able to identify the organs of a real plant instead of just labeling it on paper. Being able to experience both of these projects first hand really caters to my students creative minds.

My school values science, because we realize that a lot of fields that our students choose to study in their higher education endeavors are science related.

These projects provide the background knowledge to be successful in rigorous high school and college courses.
