Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students mostly consist of enthusiastic Pre-kindergartners who have limited English proficiency. This means they come from a one language household, predominantly a Spanish-speaking household. They have come to school to learn a new language and to maintain their dominant language.
My school consists of a small community within the community that cares for all students at our school.
Everyone on campus is willing to assist others, whether it be helping the kids, parents, or other faculty and staff. We collaborate regularly to ensure the best academic success for our students. Everyone at our campus maintains the same goal of achieving success in all our students.
My Project
I am requesting a label maker, a stainless steel vacuum, insulated tumbler and a balance ball chair for my students to use in class. These materials will make a great difference in my classroom, because my students will be able to have everything in the classroom labeled for them to know where things go. At this young age, having routine and a systematic classroom is extremely important. By having a balance ball chair, we help promote health and wellness. As these two are important in creating a meaningful learning environment. They are able to takes turns sitting in a chair and have proper posture, so they are able to create muscle memory and sit properly in their own chairs. This balance ball chair will also promote positive behavior, as the chair will be used as a positive reinforcement tool. Students who display good positive behavior will be sitting in the balance ball chair. A stainless steel tumbler will help provide a visual to the students to understand the importance of having their own tumbler, due to COVID-19 and the communal water fountains being unavailable.
