My Students

This coming school year I will teach four sections of Precalculus and one section of AP Physics to students. A number of students at my school are socioeconomically disadvantaged, belonging mostly to lower and middle-class families. Many are also first-generation immigrants and have English as their second language.

Students at my school have a lot of potential.

They are energetic and are willing to learn when given a lot of support, structure, and some incentives. They are also very creative and try their best every day.

My Project

This year I'm teaching AP Physics for the first time. I enjoy showing students lab demonstrations and often create learning opportunities through lab inquiry. I am currently teaching AP Physics in a non science classroom and would have to switch classrooms when we do laboratory experiments located on the other side of the campus.

Acquiring additional lab tables in my own classroom, whiteboard sleeves and trundle wheel to measure distances for AP Physics, would help my and I students tremendously.

Lab tables are an important component of every laboratory experiment and demonstration, having enough lab tables for each group would make class demonstrations and lab activities more accessible. It would encourage me to do more lab activities. Whiteboards will help assess students understanding. The trundle wheel I've requested to measure distances will be utilized when we do our projectile rockets lab.

Seeing physics come alive will inspire my students and will help connect what they've learned to real life scenario. Having an additional resource is a great help for a first time AP teacher like me.
