My Students

Our school is made up of about 75 students attending 6th - 8th grade. Most of these students have known each other since Kindergarten and it shows! I can see how much they care about each other in the ways they communicate with each other.

These students want everyone around them to succeed!

It is incredible the way they teach each other and bring new members into their collaborative groups. It is a great group of students to work with and watch grow.

My Project

Basic lab equipment is needed to provide hands-on learning for science students. These beakers are a size that is missing from our current lab supplies. Currently I am substituting quart jars used for canning!

I can't wait to be able to incorporate more labs into the curriculum because I will have the equipment on the materials list.

When students feel like they are doing "real science" they are more likely to be engaged, more likely to tell their parents about what they are learning, and better prepared for their high school science courses. Who knows, they might even be more open to a career in a science field.
