Lab Rat's Part 2

Help me give my students learn how to properly use and care for glassware in a lab setting.

My Students

I teach a wonderful group of 10th and 11th graders who come to school daily ready to learn. They are enthusiastic learners who are eager to gain as much enrichment as they possibly can. My students are given the incentive to thrive in their learning by competing with their peers in groups and individually.

All of my students attend a Title I school and all receive free lunch.

Even though they face many challenges such as high poverty, unemployment, inadequate healthcare, etc., they still remain ever tenacious in meeting and exceeding the standards. I am overjoyed in not only seeing my students learn something new but have fun while learning something new as well.

My Project

These lab materials are essential to the labs that will be conducted throughout the 2022 school year. The proper storage glassware will be used for the mixing of chemicals for labs dealing with acid and base reactions, redox reactions, and solving density phenomena. In addition to carrying out these experiments, students will learn firsthand how to utilize the proper glassware, sterilize glassware, and properly dispose of contents contained in the glassware.

In chemistry, students have to be able to experience the principles of chemistry and not just read about them.

By actively conducting experiments within the CDC Covid-19 guidelines and using the correct lab safety procedures, my students will be able to better grasp the rigorous content they have been taught in class.
