Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm a new teacher in Long Beach. I work at a school where ninety-two percent of students are eligible to receive free lunch. In my classroom, I have a substantial number of students who are English Language Learners. My students truly enjoy being at school and learning. Despite their challenging circumstances, they come to school ready to learn, and persevere through their problems. It is my goal to provide them with hands-on, learning activities that will address every type of learner.

I firmly believe in equity over equality.

Each of my students has the potential to succeed and thrive in school. It is my job to provide a level playing field for each student so that they may achieve their highest potential.

My Project

My goal is to provide my students with academically rich and engaging lessons and experiences. Being a Title One school, many of our students do not get the opportunity to visit museums. This field trip is a wonderful, hands-on experience for these students. Unlike most museums, the students are able to interact with all of the exhibits!

My students would not only learn so much from attending the hands-on, La Habra Children's Museum, but it would be an engaging and enriching experience that they would never forget!

This field trip is a great opportunity for our students to learn museum etiquette and the importance of visiting museums. We are excited to include our first grade special education class with us! It will be a fun, educational experience for everyone! It would mean the world to my students if we were able to go on this trip to the La Habra Children's Museum.
