Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Comprehension is key when learning to read. These materials will help my students to increase their understanding of different texts and to learn the necessary skills to succeed in school.
The students that I work with are from a low-income community and are economically disadvantaged.
The students are also from a variety of backgrounds and are second language learners. Many of the students that I work with struggle to meet grade level expectations. Our school is a Title I school that struggles to provide engaging resources and materials to the students due to funding and budget cuts.
My Project
This project includes a variety of resources that will help the students to increase their reading comprehension. I am asking for a set of multilevel reading comprehension activity pockets, a reading comprehension activity library including a variety of games that are skill-based, and a set of sequence and write story tiles. The students will be able to play games that help them learn important reading skills and apply those skills to other areas of learning. The students will also be able to work at an appropriate level to meet their needs with the multilevel comprehension pockets in order to create artistic style that is lots of fun. The sequence and write tiles will enable students to incorporate writing skills while building comprehension. These activities are engaging and encourage students to be creative. These activities will help students to become better readers and life-long learners.
This project will impact not only my students but many other students throughout the school because they will be shared with other classrooms.
If my children are able to become more actively engaged in their learning, they will continue to grow throughout their school careers to become more productive members of society.
