Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
During the school day, students in our library explore the sciences, technology, arts, and literature, as well as developing their critical thinking skills and positive relationships with others. It would be wonderful to expand that excitement for learning into after school opportunities as well.
Our kids are curious, adventuresome, motivated and involved with their community.
They love projects and opportunities to work with each other especially in the areas of science and technology.
Children become what we believe they can be, and my students simply need more opportunities to explore their interests, gifts and aptitudes to reach their full potential.
My Project
This female focused coding club is a program to spark our fifth grade girl's interest in technology, and to develop this interest into mastering problem-solving strategies, critical thinking, and programming skills.
During our after school club we will offer a variety of activities in the areas of Science, Engineering and Technology to develop an understanding of inquiry, coding languages, machines, structures, and analytical skills.
This experience will provide our students with more strategies, enthusiasm, and experiences in the area of science and technology. This will prepare them for future educational endeavors, and it will help them to participate as adults in our technology focused society.
