This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My scholars strive each day with enthusiasm and determination to receive an education at home and school. Our school is a Title I funded program and my scholars embody diverse backgrounds. Most of them will be the first to graduate and enter college. Furthermore, my scholars work hard each day to better themselves academically in order to achieve the dream of a better life for themselves and their parents. Unfortunately, achieving this dream is difficult for them to obtain without technology for each student.
My Project
Winter is such a great time to get your students ready for reading, thinking, and discussing books with their peers instead of me, the teacher!
When done right, it can be such a fun learning experience for both the students and the teacher.
I find that I learn an enormous amount of knowledge about my students' interests, lifestyles, and deepest feelings. Imagine you sitting back and observing their conversations and arguments about a topic without intervening. I can see the growth socially as well as academically that my students have made in three months! Furthermore, I will be using ziplock bags to keep the books clean along with pencils to complete reading comprehension questions.
