My Students

My school is located in the western part of Uintah County near the Ft. Duchesne Native American reservation. Ninety percent of my students are Native American and even a higher percent are on free or reduced price lunch. A high population of my students come from homes where they will be the first to graduate high school, trade school, and even college.

Many of my students do not have constant adult role models in their lives.

This is why it is important that I provide that a constant presence in their lives.

My Project

I wanted to purchase materials that would help them in their reading and writing journey. The items I chose go along with our reading and writing curriculum, Amplify. The materials will be used by sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. I chose Greek mythology and grammar materials for sixth grade. I chose brain, grammar, and poetry materials for seventh graders. For eighth grade, I chose Poe and graphic novel materials. All students could benefit from character education and motivational posters. To help with technology, I chose headphones so that they can take the state test properly and listen to their stories online. Also, computer mice were chosen to help with manipulating the reading curriculum.
