I have a wonderful group of boys and girls who are thirsty for knowledge and are excited to practice their developing reading skills. Our children come to school each day to experience something new. Our school is located in a rural community in Mississippi with a diverse population of students. Over half of the students in our school qualify for reduced-price or free meals. We are blessed with loving families who work with their children to help them become well rounded and highly educated. While our families are eager to help; they do not always have the financial means to do so.
Scholastic News and Science Spin are weekly publications created to foster life long readers. The articles are written for our grade level, making them enjoyable to read. Scholastic News and the add on Science Spin both are valuable tools to help with reading fluency with non-fiction information. The children are exposed to a variety of topics which allows them to learn new things while gaining valuable vocabulary knowledge and skills.
Scholastic News and Science Spin are not only a weekly publication; they also have additional on-line resources and games that the children adore.
The students will be able to take these weekly periodicals home and practice reading and sharing with their families creating additional reading materials for all of those in the household.
