I have an amazing group of boys and girls in my self-contained 2nd grade classroom.
Our school is located in a low income area which makes it more difficult to supply my students with additional materials needed to complement lessons.
I am privileged to have a variety of cultures represented in my room this year. This increases the need for additional support of resources to allow my students opportunities to develop a better understanding of lessons. I love each of my students and want to continue to encourage my students to be the best they can be!
In the fast paced world we live in today, I feel children have lost their passion for reading. I want my students to be immersed in a literature-rich environment full of various genres and authors to help rekindle a fire for reading. I have a desire to create a classroom full of rich and inviting resources.
My desire is for my students to fall in love with books and reading!
I want my students to be able to gain knowledge by using these various resources. I am a newer teacher with limited resources and funding for my classroom. With the lack of funding, I am unable to create the learning environment I desire for my students. My students would be able to use these books in our library to learn about different types of genres along with various authors. They would also be able to gain a better understanding of the various reading selections through interactive activities. I want my students to gain an understanding of the significance of nonfiction books along with fiction books while complementing lessons!
