Help me give my students a bowling room transformation with a variety of bowling items to enhance their mathematical skills that they will never forget.
My students are highly motivated, eager second graders. We are a Title I school meaning that there is a high percentage of free/reduced lunches.
I teach 25 AMAZING boys and girls who love to have interactive projects to enhance their learning.
Finding fun, energetic activities to engage students creates a long lasting memory of the learning. These seven/eight year olds inspire me to be the best teacher I can possibly be and I look forward to each day with them.
My Project
Classroom transformations alter a classroom environment in order to increase student engagement and enrich student learning with rigorous content. Hands-on, interactive project materials will deepen student understanding of 3 digit addition with regrouping skils.
Our classroom transformation project materials like bowling pins, bowling balls, bean bag toss, bowling pencils, and bowling signs will help immerse students in addition problems.
The bowling pins will be used to create stations for each challenge. One set of bowling pins and balls will be a reward station for completing each challenge. Students will get to actually bowl and keep tab of their total points. Each student will receive their own bowling pencil to record their answers at each challenge station and bowling games. Throughout the room bowling signs will be placed explaining each challenge and providing examples of how to complete each task. The bean bag toss will be a culminating activity when all 10 challenges have been completed.
We can't wait to knock down 10 different challenges related to addition problems without striking out. Thank you so much for helping us "set the stage to engage!"
