My Students

Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. Reading and writing is so important to my students and is truly valued. I am a 6th grade Special Education teacher who would love to have a subscription to Scope Magazine for each of them. We have used it in the past and the kids can't wait each month for the new stories to come out. The stories are very relatable for the students age. They enjoy the fact that their are nonfiction text, fiction text, and even drama. They love waiting to see what the argument topic is so they can have meaningful debates. They like reading the magazines as a class or even listening to them on audio. Scope has tons of activities for text in the magazine that intrigue middle school students at their reading level.

My Project

The Scope magazines will help us to continue to enhance the interested in reading and writing in the classroom. They can do this by reading independently, as pairs or a whole class. There are activities with every story that the students can enjoy. Every magazine is kept in the classroom until we are done that months issue and then they get to take them home and share with their families. The students love doing this.

A lot of our students don't get the opportunity to experience magazines accept at school, so when they take them home they have such a smile on their faces.
