Knights of the Kidney Shaped Table

My students need a table and chairs in the classroom where we can gather and meet for guided reading. Currently we sit on the floor or use one of the rectangular tables.

My Students

Kindergarten is the foundation for all the other grades.

For many of my students this is their first school experience. They are eager to learn and excited everyday. This is what I love about them the most!

Many of my students come from dysfunctional homes and I want my room to be a inviting, encouraging environment that fosters the best learning experience possible.

My Project

The purpose of guided reading to to meet the individual reading needs of the students in a small group. Students work side by side with the teacher as they explore new texts and work on specific skills.

Currently I meet with my students by sitting in the floor or at a rectangular table.

I am not able to sit closely the each student and this makes the groups more difficult to monitor.

Having a special table and chairs in my class will help me reach the students easier. I was recently diagnosed with arthritis in my knees and can’t sit on the floor anymore.
