Students in my school live in a rural, midwestern area. Our Varsity basketball team was the first basketball team in our county to advance to the State Finals! School spirit was through the roof!
This year, our Class A boys' basketball team won sectional, regional, semi-state, and were the state runners-up in the IHSAA State Finals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The basketball team modeled to our student body how to challenge themselves to live out our corporation's tagline of #dreambig, #workhard, #knightpride. I am creating this project to celebrate and congratulate our team's heart, humor, and hard work.
My Project
The Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball teams at my school each need twelve Wilson Evolution basketballs. After an extended post-season this year, our equipment needs to be replaced. To be their competitive best, our athletes need new basketballs that are in top condition.
Competing in the State Finals basketball tourney was so much fun for the basketball team, and it energized our entire school and community!
Three of the five starters on the Varsity team each exceeded 1,000 points in their high school basketball careers. With great success, however, comes additional costs. State Finals patches were sewn onto the team's jerseys, and the athletes will get to keep those. New jerseys will need to be purchased for next year. Basketballs need to be replaced every year, but it is especially true this year with the additional weeks of play in the extended season.
Few people would have predicted our team would advance to the State Finals. Our athletes and coaches demonstrated grit and heart that was memorable and inspiring. The success of the basketball team meant so much to many people. Sports provide a motivator that helps keep students on a positive path. Replacing jerseys and basketballs is an expense for our small high school. We struggle with any item that is not in the budget or that goes over-budget. Please help us honor our team's tremendous success this season by helping us provide the necessities for next season. Thank you!
