Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I will be introducing a STEAM program for our school. As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. All of our students receive free breakfast and 90% receive free or reduced-price lunch. Most of my students come from low-income homes and the reading gap starts early because of health problems at birth that slow cognitive, social, and emotional development.
More explorations materials are needed for our STEAM Maker space.
My Project
My students are in grades K - 5, I see close to 150 students a week in my STEAM classes. We are a high priority district, so many of our students have little to no experience with problem-solving toys or activities. K'NEX Education® sets are designed to maximize student engagement in today's busy classroom. Sets feature hands-on, inquiry-based lesson plans that help teach STEM topics and are aligned to national education standards.
Help my students experience the thrill of building their own toy roller coaster and create the ultimate amusement park with Thrill Rides from K’NEX.
Build massive, moving, and motorized roller coaster toys, Ferris wheels and more for hours of heart-pounding fun! Each kit will offer a different experience in building and creating a motorized toy. These are materials most of my students have never utilized and will help to open up their minds to engineering.
