This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 5th grade at a Title I school in Florida. I currently see the entire 5th grade of 79 students whom each have diverse backgrounds. The majority of my students come from low-income homes. My classroom is departmentalized, so I teach Math, RTI, and Success Block. My students are very energetic and are always eager to learn new things by playing games. They are always asking questions and love to be engaged in interactive activities that require them to work together.
My Project
We need tissues and cleaning wipes. With cleaning supplies and tissues we will be creating cleaning routines and jobs to teach students basic self-care and cleaning skills. Personal home care and cleaning kits will be made for students who need it.
Students will learn personal responsibility and hygiene by having access to Clorox wipes and tissues at school and at home.
Many of our students do not have their basic needs met and we need tissues and cleaning wipes to help us stay tidy. In the under-resourced schools and struggling communities, basic cleaning skills and self-care are not reinforced.
