My students are some of the most fun and curious kids in Kentucky. They love life and are happy most of the time. They can always find a way to make us smile or laugh. My classroom consists of 10 unique personalities and learning curves in a self contained setting. Each one of them learn and express themselves differently. It makes each day, a new day.
One of the things we complete in our classroom is life and daily skills.
We cook, clean and do laundry. We cook for each other, our staff and families. We also have a coffee cart for our students to practice money and social skills within our school environment.
We like to experience all that our community offers. However, we have to raise the funds to do that. One of the ways we do that is our coffee cart and we make homemade cookies for holidays to sell to our staff.
My Project
These kitchen baking items and mixer will allow us to throw out some of our older materials. Most of our kitchen baking items have rust and need to be replaced. These materials were chosen to enrich our students life skills instruction. One of our goals is so that our students can leave our classroom and be able to cook simple starters independently. We also prepare baked items for our staff appreciation as well as to fund our community based instruction.
Life Skills instruction is critical for their success and independence.
It is essential my students have the instruction and the necessary skills for transitioning into adulthood. My students need simple, easy and picture cues for their continued success!
