My Students

My students work hard to accomplish big things in life. They have high expectations when it comes to learning and advancing to college to reach their personal and professional goals.

KIPPsters defy statistics and odds everyday.

Being the first in their family to go to college can be challenging, but my students are determined to reach their highest potential.

They work hard academically in high school to get accepted to their school of choice but struggle to afford some of the basic items needed for a smooth transition to college.

My Project

KIPP Memphis Collegiate High School is part of the KIPP (Knowlege is Power Program) non-profit national network of college-preparatory, public charter schools educating elementary, middle and high school students. KIPP is a leader in re-envisioning how to support students from educationally underserved communities all the way to and through college. Getting kids to college is just one part of the puzzle. We also need help to support them so they persist all the way through college.

Our students need help purchasing some of their basic dorm room and college items that are required for a smooth transition to campus.

After working hard all summer to save money for books, many students still find themselves struggling to make ends meet to purchase all of the necessary supplies. The quantity of items listed below represents the number of students who have the highest need for financial support.

KIPP Through College (KTC) counselors and advisors support students as they prepare for and select the right college and career for their needs and interests. We would like to ease the burden of college costs by donating some of the essential items, including, but not limited to, comforter sets, mattress protectors, backpacks, microwaves, storage bins, laundry bags and towel sets.
