My Students
My students are lower income inner city kids from often broken families. A high percentage of children have a close family member in jail. Many of my students qualify for free lunch, and approximately 50% are English language learners. Being a magnet school, we have an influx of highly talented and artistic students as well.
Despite this challenging and diverse background, my students are incredibly bright and talented.
While it may take patience, we have put on many excellent performances and produced creative educational films for school and parents. My school is nestled in the foothills and and has a long history. It is a high energy campus where children often times are releasing stress from the home at their safest place, school.
My Project
My students will study Ancient Civilizations this year. One of the civilizations we will spend time analyzing is the Egyptians.
What an amazing experience and life changing event going to see the King Tutt Exhibit would be.
The price is high, and for most of my kids the trip will never happen without our help. I'm working with my school, local support, and hopefully DonorsChoose.org to make this dream happen. To see the imagery and touch the artifacts of people who lived over 2,500 years ago will make a huge impact on my kids' lives. I get goosebumps when I visualize watching them in the exhibit.
