Kindergarten is such an exciting grade to teach. Students come to me with a wide variety of skills. Some students are just learning to hold a pencil for the first time, while others are beginning to learn how to read and write fluently. One thing they all have in common is their love for school.
My students are curious, kind, enthusiastic, and creative five year olds.
Together we work to become a family that focuses on building positive relationships and leadership skills.
I teach at the large elementary school in Alabama. We are a Title I school, with over 70% of students being on free or reduced lunch. We are a diverse family filled with members of different economics, cultures, and life experiences. Many of my students have traveled to the United States with the hopes and dreams of a better life and that's exactly what I am determined to give them!
My Project
The materials and supplies requested will aid my littles minds and hands while continuing to provide them with a print rich environment. Each day, students rotate to different reading centers. These centers include word work, writing, buddy reading, technology, and my teacher table. Students spend approximately 15 minutes at each center. That is a large portion of our reading block! Which means the activities students engage with during center time must be meaningful and powerful! The phonemic awareness boxes will help student build important literacy skills. The letter stamps and story box will aid students in the writing center.
By donating to our project, you are ensuring students are engaged in developmentally appropriate reading centers that are designed with their little needs in mind.
While students are presented with different learning centers everyday, that are only meaningful if they are created with their needs in mind. Kindergarteners learn best through play! This centers provide just that!
