Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse group of learners that are creative, expressive, and artistic! They love to move and use dance to tell so many stories. My students use performing arts as an outlet and have a passion for telling stories on stage.
Dance Education provides my students with a unique experience for my students to develop critical thinking skills, self confidence, discipline, gross motor skills, and ability to work as a team.
My students are special because they truly love to learn. They are willing to put the hard work in, and appreciate the fact that dance in a public school is so very rare.

The floor makers and hula hoops are crucial to teaching and defining personal space in a movement environment.
The mesh bags allow students to keep their dance shoes, materials, and personal items safe and organized so that they can focus on their classwork rather than worry about where their belongings are (many students carry items in plastic grocery bags which can tear and result in items being lost). The dance socks (sole wraps) allow me to accommodate students that are unable to change into dance shoes.
Dance outside of school is often too expensive for my students to participate in. By having a safe and organized classroom, I can provide my students with an equal (if not better) experience as they would have at a typical dance studio.
