Help me give my students OSMO coding kits. These kits will allow me to introduce coding to Kindergartners in a fun and exciting way. Coding is a gateway to get kids interested in other STEM fields.
This project will provide military kids living on a military base in Anchorage, Alaska with OSMO coding kits. All of the students at our school live far away from home while one of their parents serves in the military. Our school is Kindergarten through 6th grade and some of these students have lived on three different military bases in their short lives. Due to all this moving, they often don't have many social connections outside of the home.
Our students are used to living with one parent deployed for up to a year at a time.
I am used to this as well because I am a military wife, raising military kids, and my husband is about to depart on his 6th deployment. I love being a part of this community and serving military kids.
My Project
I am asking for donations for OSMO coding kits so that I can introduce coding to Kindergarten and 1st graders. These kids become overwhelmed quickly so using OSMO to guide them on their first lessons with coding will be very helpful.
Introducing coding to kids while they are young will build their confidence and allow us to gradually introduce harder coding lessons to engage them throughout elementary school.
I think coding is an important skill to learn. This is a skill that can lead to continued learning opportunities throughout their lives. Thankfully, our school is lucky enough to have some old iPads that will work with these OSMO kits.
