Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a middle school in a large city. We are a Title I school with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast, lunch, and supper. My students are amazing and eager learners, and I want to help them become successful, happy adults.
Most of my students are from the local area.
They have chosen to follow a marine science and environmental studies pathway for their middle school years. English is a second language for many of them. Their parents encourage them to learn as much as they can while supporting the teachers any way they can.
My Project
One of my students recently shared a rock she had found while at a park. It was painted and had the words, "May your day be awesome!" written on it. My students loved it and wanted to create their own and hide them.
The mission of The Kindness Rocks Project is "One message at just the right moment can change someone's entire day, outlook and life." My students want to be a part of this mission!
The rocks will be painted with the acrylic paint and then the paint pens will be used to write positive and uplifting messages. We will need the wax paper to prevent the freshly painted rocks from sticking to the table. Finally, the rocks will be sprayed with acrylic sealer to preserve the beautiful design. The plastic bins will be used to store our supplies
