My students need rainforest rocks to participate in the "Kindness Project"
Our students walk in every day, "on time and ready to shine", despite their hardships. Our school has about 350 students from Kindergarten through grade 5. 78% of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Most of our students qualify for a food backpack program that they can take home over the weekend.
At our school, we want to build a culture of reading and have the whole school community exposed to different types of genres.
With the help of DonorsChoose funding, we can make it happen.
In the past, our school has had the opportunity to benefit from many projects funded by DonorsChoose.org. Students, as well as teachers, are very grateful that we can support our students with books, materials and different types of classroom supplies that will enhance our curriculum and keep our students engaged.
Students in Kindergarten through grade 5 will participate in the Kindness Project. The entire school will read the book, "Only One You." This project teaches the students about how unique they are and how we can promote positive thoughts and how to make the world a better place. The characters in the book are "rock fish" and they give us important messages. We would like the students to create a "rock fish" of their own. We will then create a rock garden in front of our school to promote encouragement, and inspirations. We already have the book, "Only One You," that was a DonorsChoose.org project.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
