Our school is a newcomer program that provides a warm welcome to students in middle and high school who are new to the country. Our students are 100% SLIFE, which means they have limited or interrupted formal education.
Our school goal is to teach English Language Learners not only the English language but also academic and social skills, which will promote successful future academic and social endeavors.
Increasing the use of technology allows students to receive support in their native language and provide more opportunities for college and career readiness.
My students will be using these materials to create "Kindness Kits". So often, many teenagers and children are removed from their homes, and for their safety, they are placed in an emergency situation. The whole process can be so frightening. We'd like to help by sharing our "Kindness Kits".
Our "Kindness Kits" will help them to feel safe and comfortable.
The students will compose emails to local businesses asking for donations. With these donations and fundraising efforts at the schools, our hope is to fill these duffel bags with toiletries, clothing, books, and items of comfort. We will then donate these bags to local agencies in need.
