My students need a classroom carpet large enough for every child to have a comfortable place to sit. This carpet will be the center of our classroom, and used for class morning meetings to teach tolerance.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school each and every day excited and ready to learn - and they love to learn!
They are they most enthusiastic young scholars.
The students in my classroom are immersed in all literature from poetry, to novels, to picture books. The children in my class love to read, and they love to be read to. The highlight of the day is our Read Aloud time. They love nonfiction, fiction, and are beginning to participate in a Reader's Theater. These amazing children are burgeoning authors and illustrators. We learn Social Studies in my classroom, which is integrated into ELAR.
My Project
This community carpet will become the central meeting place in our classroom, and it will be a place where we can all come together to learn about tolerance, inclusiveness, and to celebrate our differences.
This carpet will serve as a spot to listen to books that model kindness and tolerance.
It will become the location where students can practice accountable talk and practice truly listening to what their peers have to say. In addition, the carpet will become a place to buddy read with a partner, as well as a place where the students can work and learn with their peers.
As I roll out the Social / Emotional Learning and Restorative Justice initiatives that will be a focus of our school and lower grade classrooms, this community carpet will serve as a central location for the students to practice the skills that they are learning in these areas.
