"Anything that is worth teaching can be presented in many different ways." -Howard Gardner. In the 21st century this includes technology. My pre-k students are enthusiastic learners and gobble up information. They are just like their typical peers and love being able to use technology to learn.
My classroom is a "PALs" classroom which stands for Preschool for All Learners.
The classroom serves 10 students with a range of disabilities with both moderate and severe levels. Even though the students all have disabilities, they are first and foremost preschoolers. They come to school excited to learn, explore, and play. They are a group of fabulous 3 and 4 year olds. They are so enthusiastic and happy to come to school and see what the day has in store for them.
Besides all the fun, the students are also preparing and getting ready for Kindergarten by learning numbers, letters, shapes, and how to share. Our classroom is part of a small neighborhood low-income public elementary school. Our school is a loving environment that embraces all students. My students in the class reflex the language and cultural diversity of the neighborhood.
My Project
Currently we have one iPad for all the students to share. My students need three Kindle Fires with childproof protective cases for our Language Arts and Math centers. My students will use these materials during centers and small group instruction.
Having new tablets in my students' hands would give them numerous opportunities to interactive with games, apps and online learning centers that are tailored to address each child's individual learning needs. They will gain access to fun and meaningful activities across the curriculum in Math, Literacy, Science, and Social Studies.
Our class stands for "preschool for all learners", we just need the tools to be able to address all the different learner styles.
By donating to this project, my students will have the supplies that they need to enhance their daily learning. You will be helping my pre-k students to become 21st century innovators, ready for preschool and beyond!
