There are so many fun and exciting things happening in our room this year! We have hatched and raised adorable baby chicks, watched caterpillars form chrysalises and turn into beautiful butterflies, planted fruits and vegetables in a small garden outside our portable, and been on several field trips to ensure that learning is fun!
Our school is a Title I school in an urban setting in Norfolk.
My class consists of 20 smart and hardworking boys and girls who bring me joy every day! I am an inclusion teacher which means I have the fortunate experience of working with special education students! I currently have 6 students who have learning disabilities. Though learning can be a struggle for them, they do not lack in motivation nor the desire to learn!
When I thought about what project I could set up that my students would benefit most from, the answer was simple: technology. My first graders are a very tech savvy group of students and I believe adding more technology into our daily routine will only foster a greater love of learning. My students deserve to have every available resource I can provide them with to make their learning environment fun and engaging.
As 21st century learners, my students are always excited about the prospect of incorporating more technology into the classroom.
I plan to have my students use the Kindles during math and guided reading stations. These Kindles will provide my students with access to games that will help strengthen their reading and math skills!
