Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in a charter school. This is my third year teaching, my second at this school. My students are wonderful, hard working, and want to be the most successful versions of themselves. First grade is incredibly important of the development of these children.

I want to give my students the best opportunities and resources to succeed.

I've provided the majority of the materials in my classroom, but there always room for more. I'm hoping DonorsChoose.org will help close the gap with necessary resources to help my students.

My Project

Having the Kindle Fires will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. One way they will be used is as a STEM center. I could download apps for various math practice skills for a math center, which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students. Also, my students will have access to IXL in the classroom which will help them become better readers and mathematicians.

My project will make a difference because these students are the digital natives.

Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners. This project will help to close that gap just a little bit more.

The cases will bring color and fun to the classroom, while also ensuring that they stay protected.
