My students are kind, loving, smart, and strong. My classroom is a community of learners. I teach Fourth Grade ELA at a Title I School. I co-teach with another teacher, we each have a homeroom of 27 students. I teach 54 students in all. My school is 63.8% High Needs and 52.2% Economically Disadvantaged. My students are hard workers and take pride in their learning.
The fourth graders at my school strive to be kind.
They look out for one another. They come to school ready to learn and ready to share. I am so proud of my students who try their best and give me their best each and every day.
Kindles Readers would greatly benefit ELA in my classroom. They could access millions of books right at their fingertips.
Research shows that reading is the most important skill for learning.
Encouraging a love of reading is my foremost goal. The students are beginning to read more and more so this project can further their love and enjoyment of reading. The more they read, the more they learn!
Kids are motivated by the Kindles to read even more than they might otherwise. We build on that motivation to get more kids reading more books.
I would use Kindle Readers as a Guided Reading rotation. I would use them during Writing as well as for Research. There are endless uses for Kindle Readers!
