Thomas Jefferson once said, "I cannot live without books." The passion Jefferson felt about reading is a passion I wish to instill in my students. The reading experience provided by a Kindle Fire tablet can be the spark that ignites the love of reading in my reluctant readers.
My students are nine and ten year old fourth graders who attend a Minnesota public school.
They are wonderful children who love to learn and who thrive when they are engaged in fun and innovative ways. They need multiple opportunities and experiences to become proficienct readers.
My Project
Kindle Fire tablets will allow my students to take their reading experience to the next level. A Kindle provides instant access to a dictionary that the reader can access with minimal interuption to their flow of reading. A Kindle tablet also will provide my students with access to reading, social studies, science, and math apps that can challenge and teach them. The Kindle Fire tablet will also provide access to the internet when students are researching a topic. Finally, it will provide the opportunity to create projects using video and other media.
Your donations will make it possible for my students to have additional opportunites and experiences to foster a love of reading, math, and many other subjects, not available to them in my classroom.
The impact that the Kindle experience will have on my students, especially those struggling readers, can ignite a love of reading and learning that they may carry with them throughout their lives.
