My students are amazing students who love to learn! My beautiful classroom consists of six children with Autism. I teach in New York City in a 6:1:1 classroom. What makes my students so wonderful is that they all have different learning styles and need multiple tools to help them learn. My students come from low-income households, which most had to request technology from NYC, and even then it was one per household. My students need structure and unfortunately sharing technology with their siblings really limits them to be able to do their work. I want to provide my students with their own tablet with downloaded apps that they can use. In these difficult times, I really don't want my students to fall behind on their work since they are not in the classroom. It is important that they continue to work on their goals from home and I want to provide that for them. They will benefit using Kindles during 1:1 and small group sessions when teaching them their IEP goals and in group sessions when learning new instruction.
My Project
My students would really benefit from using a Kindle at home. My amazing students are visual/auditory learners who would really benefit from the engagement the Kindle provides. I want to provide them Kindles so that they can play interactive learning games that will spark their interest in learning while not even realizing they are learning. Please help me fund this project. So many of my students are using iPads/tablets at home right now but have to share with their siblings and I would really like for them to have their own so that they don't have to share. This will alleviate the risk of them falling behind in order to reach their goals.
