I have the privelage of teaching a fantastic group of young people. They live in the country so they get up early each morning to do their chores, then come to school on a bus that takes some an hour to arrive. Once at school they eat a hearty breakfast and press into their academic learning.
After the students have spent the day at school learning, they return home to complete more chores.
Many are part of local community organizations such as 4H and sports teams. So after chores they go off to those activities. After those extra curricular activities they come home and complete any homework they may have. Then straight to bed so they can do it all again the next day.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will help my students build upon their reading skills. The various resources within the technology will build their vocabulary. The built in dictionary resource will assist the students as they are reading and do not know a vocabulary word.
The donations to this project will help to kindle the passion of reading within my students.
The Kindle Paperwhites will meet students in their technological realm and bring the joy of reading into their world. The Kindles will also help with providing audible reading of the stories for those with special needs. As a fire needs to be kindled to burn bright, so do students need to have the flame kindled to burn into a passion for reading.
